Parks Challenge: Complete!
CC and I got serious about meeting my 2019 resolution to visit all the parks in McKinney this year (thanks Covid, I guess). It took 2 years, instead of 1, but I also didn't get too into this until socially-distant weekends became the norm. Glad we got it in, and of course, the best part was just having fun together (aww).
August
- A. Hardy Eubanks, Jr. Park - super nice for older kids
- Finch Park - updating still in progress but a nice park when no odd folks are around
- Aviator Park
- Katherine B. Winniford Park - includes a neat fishing pond
- W.B. Finney Park
- Central Park - guess this is a "park" but even better is the garden at the Heard-Craig house next door, we've been visiting this (and nearby Edith the donkey) every week or so since we amped up neighborhood walks during the lockdown in March
- Dr. Mack Hill Park - loved this one, great for all ages
- Spirit Park in Allen - one of my favorite parks so far, way to go City of Allen
- Jim Ledbetter Park - just like Inspiration & Aviator park but also next to a fun school playground
- Carey Cox Memorial Park - nice playground and neighborhood views
October
- The Courts at Gabe Nesbitt Park / Gabe Nesbitt Community Park - great playgrounds but no swings
- Foncine Settlement Park in Frisco - nice neighborhood park with animal statues
- Serenity Park - the swings and playground are covered by shady trees, wish we found this one a year ago, ha! also has a nice walking trail and a pond with turtles
- Coffee Park in University Park/Dallas
- George Webb Park - another nice park with musical instruments and a water feature too, wish this was a little closer and we'd head here often
- Slayter Creek Park in Anna - swings, stadiums, and a trail
November
- Celebration Park in Allen - biggest preschool playground we've seen
- Dr. Charles McKissick Park -great park for preschoolers, plus open space and no crowds
December
- John M. Whisenant Park
- Ash Woods Park
And the winter break push: - E.A. Randles Park
- Old Settler's Park - bummer that this one had no swings, also our coldest visit at 40 degrees and windy
- Rowlett Creek Park
- Cottonwood Park
- E.L. (Tinker) Taylor Memorial Park
- Erwin Park - our last visit, no playground but a fun place to people-watch with all the hiking/biking
- Fitzhugh Park
- Tom Allen Jr. Park
- Wattley Park
