JLCC Reflections
Somehow this year marks 10 years since I first joined the Junior League of Collin County! I have met so many amazing people and learned more about our community and how the nonprofit world works through my time in League.
The league year runs with the school year and averages two events a month, but sometimes a lot more or less. For my "league career" so far -
- 2011 Provisional (New Member) Year
- 2012 Finance Council/Cashier + Essential Facilitation Training
- 2013 Provisional Advisor (New Member Trainer) + Summer Lunchbox mini placement + Literacy Leaders mini placement
- 2014 Project Council Vision and Planning Liasion to Membership Council
- 2015 Literacy Leaders (Plano Family Literacy Center project) + Go Govern! local governance training (also when I joined a city board in McKinney)
- 2016 Finance Council/Cashier + Go Govern! local governance training year 2
- 2017 Done-in-a-Day community projects
- 2018 Done-in-a-Day community projects
- 2019 Sustaining member
- 2020 Sustaining member
- 2021 Back to active status on Finance Council as a cashier
Junior Leaguers take their volunteering seriously and really do everything so well. You really feel a part of a functioning team when you work on League activities - totally different from my every day/education world where it's all on you. Love my League and so glad for my experiences so far! I really do feel like I'm still just getting started. What will be next?
