2020 Favorites // 2021 Goals

A few simple faves and standouts to look back on for 2020...

Favorite meals in the rotation-
Panko-breaded chicken in sandwiches or as chicken Parmesan, and we are still big into slow cooker pasta and hamburgers in the oven

Favorite movie-
Gosh, I'm drawing a complete blank on this one - it was streaming kind of year with Covid

Favorite TV shows-
Better Call Saul, Fargo (the Chris Rock season), The Mandalorian, The Crown, Belgravia, SuperStore, the Tiger King, also watching lots of YouTube and old Law & Order
CC just started watching TV in December and so far it's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for the win

Favorite books-
There There, This is How it Always Is, Daisy Jones & the Six, Jessica Simpson's Open Book, and Terrible Typhoid Mary (I actually read this before Covid which was an interesting coincidence)

Favorite trip-
N-O-N-E - and 2 years in a row - this is all Covid-related though, I did go to Lake Texoma for 1 night with Megan so I will have to count that, CC is ready for some small trips in 2021, as soon as we are vaccinated we are hitting the road to somewhere socially-distanced (Broken Bow or a lake most likely)

Favorite app-
Walmart grocery (lame+amazing), Google Duo

Pastime-
Lots of neighborhood walks and trips to parks, we found Nina's farm on Logan St. during the lockdown and have been regulars ever since

Best buy-
My new car, a Jeep Grand Cherokee with all the bells and whistles (and goodbye to my 10-year old Toyota Prius, you were great!)

Projects-
Turned the den into a home office, replaced the roof (and switched from green shingles to red) and added more ventilation, replaced the fence, replaced the downstairs AC (that one was NOT planned), and updated the powder room

Achievements/Firsts/Big Events-
Matt's new job at Collin College started in August, his new 5-minute commute has been great for us all
We were also in the city's historic home calendar and finished up our challenge to visit all the city parks in our town - yay!

turned 40CC turned 2, and we had our 15th anniversary, but no big celebrations since that's how it rolls these days, see also 2020 Monthly Recaps

Plus: Living during the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted what work is like for us as educators and changed our social lives, 2021 should be more of the same, but hopefully, 2021/22 will be more normal - whatever that means

And some small goals for 2021:

-Get our covid vaccines
-Drive CC out to Betsy's house (3 hours round trip)
-Keep off my phone when driving, I have become a "check my email at a stoplight" person, such a bad habit!
-Keep updating this blog for myself, take more videos of CC as she grows, and just enjoy life
-And the fun one: Drink more cocktails!
