July on the Road: Weddings + Water
In the spirit of still driving everywhere, we headed south and enjoyed two fun Texas weekend trips last month. We started July with a long weekend in the hill country for my cousin Adam's wedding - welcome to the family Becca!
They had the prettiest wedding in New Braunfels (which we also helped setup & take down). On the way we took the scenic route down 281 with a daytripper stop for BBQ at the Burnet Feed Store and a tour of LBJ's Ranch, followed by dinner at Mi Tierra's in San Antonio and drinks at the Menger Hotel and Pat O'Brien's with my parents. We also fit in a great lunch at Clear Springs and pool time at the Marriott River Village in New Braunfels, which is actually a cool hotel. It was a fun and busy weekend - and of course, the best part was spending time with lots of family.
The very next weekend we enjoyed another fun trip - a lake house weekend in Athens with our friends Kirk+Megan and Shannon+Andy. We lucked out with beautiful weather and a nice little boat slip/swimming area. Kayaks, floating, grilling out, and a trip to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center completed the weekend. Athens is a cute little town and the lake is small, private, and pretty. We're already planning a repeat trip next summer with an upgrade to Cedar Creek Lake nearby.
That's it for summer travels!
