Gooey Butter Cake

Mmmm - don't ever make this unless you have lots of people to share it with. You will be tempted to eat to all yourself, it is just as good as you've heard.



Gooey Butter Cake
A St. Louis tradition, recipe from Paula Deen.

Makes 12 bars.

Ingredients
Crust:
1 stick melted butter
1 egg
1 box yellow cake mix

Filling:
2 eggs
8oz softened cream cheese
1 box powdered sugar(about 2 cups)
1.5 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 and lightly grease a 13x9 baking dish.

Combine crust ingredients and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the crust mixture into the bottom of the baking dish. In a separate bowl, combine filling ingredients and mix well. Poor filling over crust.

Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes until crust is golden brown. Let cool completely then cut into bars. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
